PowerPoint – Videoconferencing & Virtual Visits
Videoconferencing allows users to see and hear each other in real-time. It is often accompanied by other supportive technologies such as computer desktop sharing for presentation materials or document cameras. Videoconferencing is being used by K-12 school jurisdictions for a variety of purposes including:
- Distance learning – connecting students to courses delivered through videoconference that they otherwise would not be able to take
- Virtual field trips – connecting classrooms to special presentations and learning experiences by specialized content providers such as museums, authors, aquariums, and more
- Class to class collaborations – students connecting with other students to learn and share with one another
- Meetings – administrative meetings, participation in events, and consultations with experts through videoconference to save the time, money, and travel conditions required to be present face-to-face
